Chapter 3 Scavenger Hunt

I enjoyed doing this scavenger hunt. It was much better than having to take a test or have some other type of written assignment. The answers that were easiest to find were the one that were really straight forward and pretty much a one word answer. Some of the more in depth questions, we had to do more research to find the most accurate answer. I liked being able to work with a partner. It is helpful to have someone to work with and you can divide the work to get the assignment done faster. Also, if I could not find an answer, I had my partner that could help me out and look as well. Working alone would have been harder. I think that this is a fair assessment of Chapter 3 material because it covers all the topics that were mentioned in the chapter and now we know more facts about each of them.

Ammateur Sports Assignment Summary

During my research on Amateur sports in the NCAA, I discovered many different facts within each of the three divisions. One similarity I noticed throughout all of the Divisions was that they consider education to be the first priority. I found this funny because in most Division I schools they always seem to be getting into trouble with athlete's grades or with helping their athletes complete their school work. NCAA also stresses the importance of amateurism and how it preserves an academic environment. In the end, all three Divisions in the NCAA share the idea that education is first but they also have many different ideas.

Boston Celtics Giving Back

One of the programs held by our cities basketball team is the Boston Celtics Stay in School Program. It was founded during the 1990-1991 season making it the longest running community initiative in American professional sports. The program works with the Boston Public schools with kids at the middle school level. Through this program kids are recognized for their academic improvement and perfect attendance. Students also have the opportunity to get invited to special assemblies with Celtics players.

Stay in School

The Celtics being a part of the Boston community like this is a great way to market for them. They are helping the youth of the city by inspiring them to be the best they can be, but they are also getting benefits out of it for themselves. These programs are advertised everywhere, giving the Celtics a lot of publicity making more people want to buy tickets to games. Also by visiting local schools, it makes the kids want to buy more of the Celtics merchandise. I believe by working with the Stay in School Program the Celtics benefit a lot but they are still are helping out with a great cause.

My Introduction

Hi, my name is Olivia Pastore. I am 17 and a senior here at RMHS. I love to figure skate and have been skating since I was three years old. In the future I would love to be a part of Disney on Ice. I am actually in the process of auditioning for it now! I am a huge fan of Disney as well. My favorite food is ice cream, and I especially love to get it while I'm at my Cape house in Brewster. During the summer the Cape is my favorite place to be!
